The iconic Guillermo del Toro is heading to Netflix with a group of horror filmmakers in hopes of scaring every viewer!
Deadline reports that Netflix will produce Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, a new anthology series from del Toro, J. Miles Dale, Gary Ungar, and Regina Corrado. Cabinet of Curiosities is created, and executive produced by Guillermo del Toro and sees Dale and Corrado co-executive producing. Dale will also serve as show-runner alongside Ungar.
Deadline notes, “Production has begun in Toronto on creator, EP and co-showrunner del Toro’s collection of live-action stories that Netflix says is meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, the eight sinister tales — including two original works by del Toro — will be brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by the Shape of Water filmmaker.”
The list of filmmakers includes Twilight’s Catherine Hardwicke, The Babadook’s Jennifer Kent, and Mandy’s Panos Cosmatos. The line-up of actors is equally impressive with The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln, cult icon Crispin Glover, Tim Blake Nelson, Essie Davis, and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham.

- Peter Weller (Star Trek Into Darkness) stars in an episode directed by Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), who also writes along with Aaron Stewart-Ahn
- Mika Watkins (Origin) writes an episode (based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft) directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight); with the cast to be announced
- David Hewlett (See) cast in an episode written (based on a short story by Henry Kuttner) and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Hannibal)
- Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor) serves as writer of an episode (based on a short story by comic book author Emily Carroll) directed by Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), with the cast to be confirmed.
