People are going to see the movie in droves, and it looks like the hype machine behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to pay off. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie could earn the biggest domestic and international opening in movie history.
The site has predicted, based on their large base of stats and figures, that Star Wars: The Force Awakens could earn around $231 million domestically from over 4,000 screens and a total between $575 and $650 million worldwide. This would break the record currently held by Jurassic World, with $208 million domestic and $525 million worldwide. It will also be the biggest December opening, beating The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘s $84 million.
Time will tell, and we’ll know officially by Sunday just how big Star Wars: The Force Awakens is. But the movie has already pulled in over $14 million from just its Wednesday worldwide screenings from 12 markets.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now in the UK and December 18th in the States and sees J.J.
