Iron Studios’ Bloodsport, Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher 2 The Suicide Squad Battle Diorama Series statues available for pre-order

October 24, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Iron Studios has revealed promotional images for The Suicide Squad Battle Diorama Series collectibles statues for Bloodsport, Polka-Dot Man, and Ratcatcher 2, based on the likenesses of Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, and Daniela Melchior from James Gunn’s DC supervillain team-up; check out the promotional images here…

With a mission to destroy a laboratory and a prison that holds political prisoners and secret experiments, he finds himself atop a base that resembles the forest terrain of Corto Maltese. He infiltrates himself as the involuntary leader of the Task Force group’s second strike team, better known as The Suicide Squad. Wearing a tactical suit specially designed to protect him, which conceals his insurmountable arsenal, and various utility tools. When necessary he can wear a folding helmet, inspired by a xenomorph alien, which intimidates his opponents and hides his identity. Part of the collection of statues derived from the movie The Suicide Squad, Sideshow and Iron Studios present the deadly “Bloodsport BDS Art Scale 1:10 Statue.” He is a highly intelligent mercenary with skills in strategy and leadership that turns any object into a deadly weapon.

Imprisoned for putting Superman in the ICU with a Kryptonite bullet, Robert DuBois, known by the code name Bloodsport, was recruited by Amanda Waller to command one of the two teams of the Suicide Squad. He joined the team for another obscure mission of his own. Initially refusing the mission, he ended up accepting after Waller blackmailed him, threatening to imprison his daughter Tyla for a misdemeanor. As a military veteran and assassin, DuBois has an impeccable aim and is an expert combatant, but suffers from Musophobia (intense fear of rats) after being locked by his father in a box with the hungry rodents as a child. Played by Idris Elba, Bloodsport was created by the legendary writer and artist John Byrne in 1987 as Superman’s opponent in the comics.

A member of the second strike team of the group Task Force X, better known as “The Suicide Squad,” is the peculiar figure wearing a white uniform with colored circles. He heads for a mission atop a base that resembles the forest terrain of Corto Maltese along with the rest of his newly-formed team. Despite being seen as a joke by his teammates, this shy and sad character possesses destructive and lethal power. Sideshow and Iron Studios add to the line derived from the movie The Suicide Squad this statue of the curious and iconic “Polka-Dot Man BDS Art Scale 1:10 Statue.”

Abner Krill was infected with an interdimensional virus because his own mother, a scientist obsessed with superheroes at STAR Labs, performed experiments on him. As a result of all these experiments, he developed a meta-human condition that caused him to create multicolored spheres shaped like glowing pustules on his body. He needs to expel the spheres in order not to be consumed by them. Codenamed “Polka-Dot Man,” he launches these incendiary balls like projectiles with the aid of special gauntlets, and the spheres are capable of disintegrating anything they come into contact with. As a result, Abner suffered severe psychological trauma from his mother’s experiments with him and his siblings. He is depressed, clumsy, and suffering from PTSD, which causes him to see his mother’s face in everyone around him.

An obscure character from the Batman gallery of villains in the comics, Polka-Dot Man was created in 1962 by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff and is one of the featured characters in The Suicide Squad, played by David Dastmalchian.

Wearing a rustic hooded leather costume and a gas mask, she raises her technological command staff that gives her power and control over rodents, the most humble and despised of all creatures, just as her father taught her. The gas mask serves both to hide her identity and protect her from the odors of the sewer system, where she recruits her army of rats. Having two of her little allies at her feet, Sideshow and Iron Studios present the “Ratcatcher II BDS Art Scale 1:10 Statue” on a base resembling the forest terrain of the South American island nation of Corto Maltese. She’s on a mission to destroy a prison and laboratory known as Jotunheim.

Cleo Cazo is the daughter of the original villain Ratcatcher. Raised with love and affection, she has always lived on the margins of society on the streets of Portugal. She learned from an early age how to use the devices created by her father to control rats, making the animals that inhabit the sewers her tool to commit robberies and protect her. As an adult, she moved to the US, where she followed in her father’s footsteps in a criminal life as “Ratcatcher 2”, named after her father. Along with a specific mouse, whom she named Sebastian and adopted as a pet, Cleo was captured and sent to Belle Reve Prison. During her time in prison, she was recruited by Amanda Waller into the Task Force X group nicknamed The Suicide Squad. This group brings together convicted villains who work for the government in exchange for reduced sentences.

Played by Portuguese actress Daniela Melchoir, Ratcatcher II was originally created for the DC Extended Universe, DC’s cinematic universe.

The Suicide Squad sees James Gunn directing a cast that includes Suicide Squad returnees Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) as well as new DCEU additions Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, and Sylvester Stallone.
