SPOILERS: Eternals director Chloe Zhao discusses the surprise post-credits cameos

November 6, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Spoilers for Marvel’s Eternals follow. You have been warned…

Unless you follow certain Variety writers on social media, you may have found yourself surprised during the end credits of Marvel Studios’ Eternals when former One Direction star Harry Styles popped up to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Eros, a.k.a. the superhero Starfox.

Styles’ Starfox (who in the comic books is the brother of Thanos) appeared briefly in the mid-credits scene alongside Pip the Troll (Patton Oswalt). However, that wasn’t the only surprise that Eternals had in store as the subsequent post-credits scene also served to introduce another character to the MCU with a mysterious voice addressing Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman.

Well, as revealed by director Chloe Zhao, the voice belongs to none other than Blade, with Mahershala Ali making his debut as the Daywalker ahead of his solo movie!

“That was the voice of one of my favorite superheroes, Mr. Blade himself. Blade, Blade, Blade,” Zhao revealed in an interview with Fandom. I don’t know what they’re doing with the  [solo] movie, but Mahershala is a treasure. It’s going to be epic.”

As well as confirming Mahershala Ali’s role, Zhao also opened up to CinemaBlend about Harry Styles’ casting as Starfox and how it came about; check out here comments here…
