Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to launch new live-action trilogy, animated film coming 2024

February 18, 2022 by Ricky Church

The Transformers franchise is getting ready to hit the big screen again in a big way. The next film in the franchise Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which was delayed from this summer to next, will be the first in a planned trilogy of films.

Paramount made the announcement in a wave of news about their upcoming film and television slate for theatrical releases and the Paramount+ streaming service. Rise of the Beasts will mark the first time the franchise has had a live-action film since 2018’s Bumblebee, a spin-off prequel which also acted as a soft-reboot for film series.

Paramount also gave an update to the CG animated Transformers film from Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley. The film is said to be a prequel set on Cybertron, though it is unknown if it is set in the same continuity as Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts or a separate continuity. While an exact release date was not given, the animated Transformers film is set for a 2024 release with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari writing the script. Paramount Animation and Hasbro’s eOne are developing the project.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be released theatrically in 2023 and is the first of three new installments. A new animated series from @Nickelodeon arrives this fall. Along with this news was the announcement of a new Transformers animated series, Transformers: Earth Spark, which released a brief teaser with a Fall 2022 premiere.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) and features a cast that includes Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez and Tobe Nwigwe, along with Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set for release on June 9th 2023.
