WWE and Vince McMahon producing wrestling drama series Pinned

April 4, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Just days after setting showrunners for Blumhouse’s limited series The United States of America vs. Vince McMahon, WWE has set up another scripted drama series set within the world of professional wrestling / sports entertainment.

As revealed by Deadline, NBCUniversal is developing Pinned, a drama series set within the world of a fictional pro-wrestling promotion. The potential series is described as “an ‘adrenalized’ upstairs-downstairs soap that gives a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional wrestling promotion and the ‘unforgettable’ characters that populate it, offering a front-row seat into the eccentric wrestling culture and the mayhem that exists between the locker room and the boardroom.”

Craig O’Neill (MacGyver) is writing Pinned, and will also executive produce alongside Fox Sports reporter Tom Rinaldi, WWE boss Vince McMahon and WWE executives Kevin Dunn and Chris Kaiser.

As yet, no network or streamer is attached to Pinned, although the project is expected to land under the NBCUniversal umbrella, which includes the NBC network and Peacock subscription service, which recently became home to the WWE Network.
