Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk reveals which characters are returning for season 2

April 13, 2022 by Liam Waddington

Following the announcement back in November 2021 that the Netflix phenomenon Squid Game will be returning for a second season, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has now confirmed which two characters will be reprising their roles.

During an interview at Deadline’s annual Contenders Television at Paramount Studios, Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun’s The Front Man will be returning for the sophomore season. “Gi-hun for sure. He will be back and I believe the Front Man will back too,” Hwang said.

While plot details for the second season are currently unknown, the announcement of these two characters returning will come as no surprise to the fans as the first season concludes with Gi-hun, the only survivor of the games, vowing to put an end to the annual life-or-death tournament.

The first season also stars Park Hae-soo as Sang-woo, Jung Ho-yeon as Sae-byeok, O Yeong-su as Il-nam, Heo Sung-tae as Deok-su, Anupam Tripathi as Ali, Kim Joo-ryoung as Mi-nyeo, and Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho.

Squid Game is available to stream now on Netflix.
