Supernatural western Hard West 2 launches Open Beta

May 6, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Good Shepherd Entertainment and Ice Code Games have announced that the Open Beta for their supernatural western Hard West 2 is now live on Steam for PC.  The Open Beta runs until 5th June and features a slice of the game’s campaign and some of the abilities that players will be able to use as they journey across the Wild West.  A new trailer can be seen below showing the gameplay.

Hard West 2, the sequel to the hit turn-based strategy Hard West, will have players taking their posse, fighting the living and the dead as they journey across the wild frontier to recover the protagonist’s soul.

This new spooky title features a new Bravado system that allows players to take a more aggressive approach in their tactics and will actually reward them for going on the offensive.  The more that players go on the offensive the more their streak will be extended and the more damage they can deal.  This will be especially handy on the more dynamic levels where players must chase down trains on horseback.

Players will have access to special abilities like Gin’s Shadow Barrage, which ignores cover and can hit several enemies, Old Man Bill’s Dead Man’s Revenge, which can hit anyone within line of sight and  Flynn’s Shadow Swap, which lets the player character trade places with friend or foe.

Hard West 2 features:

  • Conquer the Dark Frontier by leading Gin Carter and a posse of strange outlaws on a journey to save his soul in a land claimed by darkness.
  • Explore the frozen wastelands and lawless frontier towns in desperate battles against the living and undead.
  • Rack up the kills to activate the new Bravado State and replenish your Action Points. Go on the offensive, chain together stylish kills and extend the streak.
  • Hard West 2’s turn-based combat will take place over dynamically shifting environments, ensuring that brains are kept as busy as trigger fingers.
  • Uncover mysterious playing cards to build up the posse’s poker hands then arm them with guns, explosives, trinkets, or just some beans and whiskey.
  • Make the right decisions to earn Loyalty Points and new skills for the growing posse of gunslinging outlaws, witches and other mysterious beings.
  • The Wild West and the occult collide in a character-driven story co-written by Origins Awards winner and New York Times bestseller Matt Forbeck (Deadlands).
  • The voice talents of Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), Darien Sills-Evans (Days Gone) and Adam Gifford (The Colony).

If you want to experience this supernatural western for yourself then be sure to visit the Hard West 2 page on Steam and take part in the Open Beta.
