First Jurassic World Dominion reactions come roaring online

June 7, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Full reviews for Jurassic World Dominion are being penned in like a hungry Tyrannosaurus Rex on a stormy Isla Nublar night, but following the world premiere of the Jurassic Park sequel trilogy’s final instalment last night, social media reactions are beginning to drop faster than Tim Murphy from an electric fence, and they’re hardly a roaring endorsement of the film.

Praise is reserved for the original trilogy stars – Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill – but it has also been called “the worst movie in the franchise” and “a MASSIVE disappointment” by other attendees. Check out a selection of the spoiler free reactions below, and always remember that it’s whether YOU enjoy the movie that counts most…

My gut reaction after walking out of #JurassicWorldDominion is that’s the worst movie in a franchise I adore. It’s too long, action sequences are downright ugly, and overall wayyyy too bloated. Then again, I smiled at nostalgia beats and baby dinos so like, that too? pic.twitter.com/BA1J4uFOMD

#JurassicWorldDominion = BAD. It ignores the premise it should’ve had from the start, instead synthetically engineering 2 entirely different, uninteresting & hollow stories that it struggles to connect. Some effects look polished, some ropey. Worst of the franchise. pic.twitter.com/0xbyUR6O9d

It brings me no joy to report that #JurassicWorldDominion is a MASSIVE disappointment. While the film does feature some incredible dinosaur sequences and it is great to see the original cast back on the big screen, the film fails to deliver on what the previous films promise. pic.twitter.com/AsGoqMsrSf

#JurassicWorldDominion could’ve been everything we wanted & more. What it is – is a lot of what we didn’t need and not enough of what we did. Mostly a convoluted ‘let’s throw everything incl. the kitchen sink at them’ & see if it works. Except for 1 or 2 exceptions – it doesn’t.

#JurassicWorldDominion is better than Fallen Kingdom in every way. It knows the franchise is out of ideas, so it tries to do something new by doing a bit of everything. It’s so dumb and cheesy, it kinda works? A flawed but admirable effort, with plenty of action and cool dinos. pic.twitter.com/KLS6dJzAba

#JurassicWorldDominion rocks an excellent mix of practical & digital effects. Dinos look GREAT. Dimetrodon scene is … right up my alley. Bryce Dallas Howard runs away with the movie — & new trilogy for that matter. Claire experiences one heck of an arc & Howard soars with it. pic.twitter.com/5qWYkddi9e

This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely, and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe.

From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

The film features new cast members DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Scott Haze (Minari), and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man 2). The film’s returning cast includes BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez, and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.

Jurassic World Dominion stampedes into cinemas on June 10th, 2022.
