Netflix renews The Umbrella Academy for fourth and final season

August 27, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Netflix has announced that it has renewed its comic book adaptation The Umbrella Academy for a fourth and final season.

“I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago,” said showrunner Steve Blackman. “But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

Based on the comic book series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy revolves around an adopted family of estranged superhero siblings who reunite after the death of their father.

Confirmed as returning for the fourth and final season of the show are  Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.

Showrunner Steve Blackman has recently signed a major new deal with Netflix and is currently developing the International Space Station drama Orbital and video game adaptation Horizon Zero Dawn; he will however return for the final season of The Umbrella Academy, serving as co-showrunner with Jesse McKeown.

The first three seasons of The Umbrella Academy re streaming now on Netflix.
