Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery to return in Marvel’s Wonder Man Disney+ series

August 31, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Ben Kingsley is set to grab his Liverpool F.C. scarf and head back to the MCU following the news that he’s to reprise the role of Trevor Slattery for the upcoming Wonder Man series at Disney+.

Variety reports that Kingsley will reunite with Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed and co-wrote Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and who will serve as an executive producer and co-creator on Wonder Man.

Kingsley first played Slattery in Iron Man 3, where his Scooby Doo reveal as a Liverpool supporting am-dram thesp was one of the MCU’s most inspired/divisive moments. He then appeared in the 2014 Marvel One-Shot (remember them?) All Hail the King, in which he was broken out of prison by someone working for the real Mandarin, before Destin Daniel Cretton returned him to the fold for Shang-Chi.

Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 30 Rock) will be head writer and showrunner on Wonder Man, which will bring Hollywood star Simon Williams to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Don Heck, Williams made his first appearance as a supervillain in Avengers #9 but switched sides after battling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes alongside Baron Zemo. He would go on to serve as members of the Avengers, West Coast Avengers, and Revengers at various points across his near-sixty year history.

Destin Daniel Cretton will be playing a huge part in the way that the future of the MCU unfolds, having just been tasked with directing one half of the huge conclusion to The Multiverse Saga with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is set for release on May 5th 2025.
