Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio star in the trailer for A24’s Aftersun

September 27, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

A24 has released the trailer for Aftersun, the Charlotte Wells directed drama which wowed at Cannes and currently sits at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film tells the story of Sophie (Frankie Corio) and her dad Calum (Normal People‘s Paul Mescal), who are on holiday in Turkey in the late 1990s, where things seem to be going well until cracks begin to emerge in the façade Calum is trying to maintain to give Sophie a perfect holiday. Check out the trailer below…

Sophie reflects on the shared joy and private melancholy of a holiday she took with her father twenty years earlier. Memories real and imagined fill the gaps between miniDV footage as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn’t.

Aftersun is released in the US on October 21, 2022 and screens as part of the BFI London Film Festival.
