Timothy Dalton joins Yellowstone’s 1923

October 14, 2022 by Ricky Church

A former 007 will be facing off against the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch as Deadline reports Timothy Dalton has joined the Yellowstone prequel series 1923. He’ll star alongside Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

1923 will follow a different generation of the Dutton family as they stave off draughts, prohibition and Montana’s own great depression to protect their ranch.

Dalton will play Donald Whitfield, “a powerful, self-confident man who reeks of wealth and the lack of empathy it requires to attain it. He is intimidating and nefarious and is used to getting what he wants.”

This makes Dalton the third James Bond actor Ford will have starred with in a production. The original James Bond Sean Connery played Henry Jones, the father to Ford’s Indiana Jones, in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade while Ford starred alongside the most recent Bond Daniel Craig in 2011’s western sci-fi Cowboys & Aliens.

Along with Ford and Mirren, 1923 will star Brandon Sklenar, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Julia Schlaepfer, Sebastian Roché, Jerome Flynn, Jennifer Ehle and now Dalton.

1923 focuses on the Dutton family’s next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana’s great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade.

1923 is expected to premiere this December on Paramount+ with the fifth season of Yellowstone premiering in November.
