Henry Cavill wants to show Superman’s “love for Earth and for the people who live here” in new film

It’s been a whirlwind the past few weeks for Henry Cavill. From leaving The Witcher to joining a new Guy Ritchie film, he’s making big moves. But the biggest as of late is his return to the role of Superman.

After his appearance in Black Adam, Cavill took to social media to confirm the news and give his feelings on the return and to tell fans: “Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

So, what might we expect from Cavill’s return? In a new interview with Screen Rant, the Man of Steel spoke about the return and what he hopes to do with the character.

“There is so much in the way of conversations to be had,” said Cavill. “Obviously, I have a very close connection to the character, and there is something extraordinarily special about him; extraordinarily special about his capacity to give and to love. I don’t mean romantically; I mean his love for Earth and for the people who live here, and to make people feel powerful – to make people feel like Superman themselves.”

“I have plenty of desires for this, of course, which will be discussed more in time. But the most important thing, which I will be aiming for, is for the audience to leave the cinema and to feel like they can fly, to feel like they can protect, and to feel like they want to give to everyone else. That would be my goal.”

Henry Cavill will next appear in The Witcher season 3, but will be departing the Netflix series after that with Liam Hemsworth set to succeed him as Geralt of Rivia for the show’s fourth season. Meanwhile, DC Studios is looking for a new writer for the still-untitled Man of Steel 2.
