Keanu Reeves set to appear in Ana de Armas John Wick spin-off Ballerina

November 9, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Earlier this week it was revealed that Ian McShane was set to reprise his role as Winston, the manager of The Continental Hotel, in Ana de Armas’ John Wick spin-off Ballerina, and now comes the news that Keanu Reeves, aka John Wick himself will show up in the film.

Ballerina is currently filming in Prague under the stewardship of Die Hard 4‘s Len Wiseman, and Collider have exclusively revealed that Reeves is also in the city to shoot his scenes. There is no word yet as to whether it will simply be a cameo to tie Ballerina to this growing cinematic universe, or if the the character of John Wick will play a larger role in the plot.

2014’s John Wick was an action sleeper-hit that was directed by Chad Stahelski (Bullet Train). It grossed $86 million worldwide and spawned two sequels; John Wick: Chapter 2, which earned $171 million, and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which topped the lot with a whopping $327 million global cume. There’s little wonder then that John Wick 4 is already in the can, and the small-screen spin-off The Continental is set to debut on Amazon Prime sometime in 2023.

Anticipation is high for Ballerina, not least because it gives Blonde‘s Ana de Armas the chance to revisit the world of espionage, something she did to film-stealing effect in No Time To Die. With a script written by Shay Hatten and punched up by Promising Young Woman‘s Emerald Fennell, the story focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.
