Adam Sandler discusses why he’s never joined a massive blockbuster franchise

December 4, 2022 by EJ Moreno

As one of the most recognizable actors, it’s a bit shocking that Adam Sandler hasn’t appeared in a Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or any other major franchise.

While not every actor needs to appear in a blockbuster, Sandler’s beloved status seems perfect for a supporting or starring role in some of the most popular movies. He has appeared in the Hotel Transylvania movies and is trying to craft an original franchise with a Murder Mystery sequel in development at Netflix.

Sandler says while he’s open to any opportunity, no major franchise has approached him: “I’ve never thought about it, maybe because no one has ever asked me,” says Sandler. “I don’t know. I’m very into; I love that stuff. I see that stuff, and I go, wow, these amazing movies, but no, it hasn’t happened and probably won’t happen.”

Sandler is currently promoting his film Hustle for Netflix. Sandler is aiming for a Best Actor nomination, which has alluded him his entire career. He was nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Globes in 2003 and won Best Male Lead at Independent Spirit Awards in 2020 for his work in Uncut Gems.

Adam Sandler is also developing new original projects, including a new collaboration with Uncut Gem directors, the Safdie brothers, and a sci-fi drama for Netflix.

You can see Sandler dive into his career, awards, Chris Farley, and more during his interview with Happy Sad Confused Podcast. Check out the full link, and you can check out our review of Netflix’s film Hustle here.
