American Hustle and Amsterdam‘s David O. Russell is set to direct Sacha Baron Cohen and Keke Palmer in 70s-set road trip drama Super Toys.
According to Deadline as well as directing Super Toys, Russell has also written the script, which tells the story of two toy sales reps (played by Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen and Nope‘s Keke Palmer) on a life-and-death mission to save themselves, their marriage and their live-wire 12-year-old daughter while on the road in Middle America.
Baron Cohen is coming off the back of his Academy Award nominated turn in The Trial of the Chicago 7, while Palmer is hot property following her breakout role in Jordan Peele’s Nope. In stark contrast David O. Russell’s star-studded Amsterdam was a critical and commercial dud, reportedly losing the studio approximately $100 million.
