Indiana Jones set to return to Cannes Film Festival with Dial of Destiny premiere

March 27, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Fifteen years ago he was the hottest ticket on the croisette as Kingdom of the Crystal Skull swung into the Cannes Film Festival for its world premiere, and now Indiana Jones is once again going to follow those iconic red-lines on the map towards the French Riviera, with the news that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will make its debut at the iconic festival.

According to multiple outlets Lucasfilm’s fifth entry in the long-running Indiana Jones film series, which marks Harrison Ford’s final outing as the man in the hat, as he battles a familiar foe with a little help from Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, has been invited to screen at Cannes. Reports suggest that James Mangold’s eagerly-anticipated sequel could be premiering on day 2 (May 17) or day 3 (May 18) of the festival.

And if that wasn’t enough to get you pitching a tent on the Palais, it has also been confirmed that Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, his $200M Apple Studios epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Brendan Fraser and Jesse Plemons, will also screen at the festival.

Starring along with Harrison Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”).

Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, is once again composing the score.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in cinemas on June 30th, 2023.
