September 7, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

Ahead of its release this October, Neon has revealed a poster and trailer for writer-director Kitty Green’s upcoming thriller The Royal Hotel.

The film follows best friends Hanna and Liv (Julia Garner and Jessica Henwick), as they find themselves in an unnerving situation when Hanna takes a job in a bar in a remote Outback mining town after the pair run out of money while backpacking through Australia. Watch the trailer below…

Americans Hanna (Julia Garner) and Liv (Jessica Henwick) are best friends backpacking in Australia. After they run out of money, Liv, looking for an adventure, convinces Hanna to take a temporary live-in job behind the bar of a pub called ‘The Roval Hotel’ in a remote Outback mining town. Bar owner Billy and a host of locals give the girls a riotous introduction to Down Under drinking culture but soon Hanna and Liv find themselves trapped in an unnerving situation that grows rapidly out of their control.

Joining Garner and Henwick in the cast of The Royal Hotel are Toby Wallace, Hugo Weaving, Ursula Yovich, Daniel Henshall, James Frecheville, and Herbert Nordrum.

The Royal Hotel arrives in cinemas on October 6th.
