Disney’s The Princess and the Frog follow-up series Tiana sets new writer-director

October 11, 2023 by Ricky Church

It has been a long time since Disney gave an update to its The Princess and the Frog follow-up animated series Tiana when it was first announced at Disney’s 2020 Investor Day, but there has finally been some movement on the series as Disney has hired Midnight Mass writer Joyce Sherri as lead writer and a director on Tiana.

Set after The Princess and the Frog, Tiana will follow the titular princess as she “sets off for a grand new adventure as the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia, but a calling to her New Orleans past isn’t far behind.”

Anika Noni Rose will reprise her role as Tiana in the animated series, following up on her other appearances in Disney films and series such as Ralph Breaks The Internet and the recent LEGO Disney Princess: The Castle Quest.

Tiana will be a musical series that was expected to premiere this year, but will instead arrive in 2024. Producing is Nathan Curtis with Jennifer Lee and Stella Meghie executive producing.
