The Third Doctor returns for new Doctor Who audio drama from Big Finish Productions

October 12, 2023 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish Productions has announced the release of Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: Intelligence for War. This latest seven-part full-cast audio drama, written by EddieRobson, is packed with all manner of conspiracies and army politics that the Third Doctor feels compelled to investigate.  Watch the new video below for a look behind the scenes…

In Intelligence for War, a mysterious incident involving a Nazi soldier occurs in the quiet Norfolk village of Huncleath leading the Third Doctor (played by Tim Treloar) and Liz Shaw (Daisy Ashford) to investigate.  However, this isn’t the only mystery as the village’s wealthiest resident, Francis Teeling, has also vanished.

Meanwhile, the Brigadier (played by Jon Culshaw) has concerns about Liz leading her to make connections with her past while considering her future. Her struggles don’t end there as she must fight between incarceration for security breaches and a strange alien weapon.

Tim Treloar, Daisy Ashford, Tom Bell, Jon Culshaw, Nicholas Briggs, Issey Walton, Yasmin Mwanza, Jason Forbes

Director and Script Editor Nicholas Briggs added: “It was a real highlight for me to work with Eddie again. I’ve never forgotten how he really fired my enthusiasm back in 2006 with his brilliant Eighth Doctor Cyberman script, Human Resources (recently re-released as part of The Eighth Doctor and Lucie Miller Series One download compilation). And frankly, he’s never disappointed me since. He’s been off doing all sorts of other exciting things and I was worried he’d be too busy to come on board.  It’s also brilliant to be working with Luke Pietnik again on the sound design. I’ve composed the incidental music, and Luke and I always have a good time working together. He’s one of the kindest, most polite people I’ve ever encountered. His work is almost always perfect on the first draft.”

Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: Intelligence for War is now available exclusively from the Big Finish website priced £19.99 for a collector’s edition CD box set and digital download or as digital download only for £16.99.
