Back in October it was announced that CBS was developing a remake of the 80s TV series MacGyver, with James Wan (Fast & Furious 7) and original EP Henry Winkler serving as executive producers, and now comes word from TV Line that the network has officially placed a pilot order, with Wan set to direct from a script by playwright Paul Downs Colaizzo.
The potential series will follow “twentysomething Angus MacGyver, who gets recruited into the clandestine organization from the original series where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.”
Headlined by Richard Dean Anderson, MacGyver ran for seven seasons between 1985 and 1992 and was followed by two TV movies in 1994.
