Dark Horse announces new Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures titles

January 8, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Phase III of Star Wars: The High Republic is set to continue through two new comic titles from Dark Horse this year, with the publisher announcing the upcoming launch of the one-shot Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Crash Landing and the four-issue limited series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire.

Alys “Crash” Ongwa and her crew have been fighting against anyone who had a hand in the Nihil infiltration that plunged her home planet of Corellia into chaos. If they don’t continue to fight, everything they sacrificed for could slip away. Now, Crash has a lead on the person behind the entire Nihil plot— but she’ll have to rely on some old friends for help. If her crew can accomplish this mission, could true peace be on their horizon?

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Crash Landing follows Alys “Crash” Ongwa and her ragtag crew, and is written by New York Times bestselling author Daniel José Older (Star Wars: The High Republic), with art by Rachele Aragno (Leonide the Vampyr), colors by Michael Atiyeh (Conan The Avenger) and letters by Comicraft.

“Crash and her wild outlaw team of bodyguards are some of my favorite Star Wars characters to write,” says Daniel José Older, “and I’ve had this story about how they deal with the aftermath of war inside me for a long time, trying to get out. I’m so excited to be able to tell it now with this amazing team, and rest assured we haven’t heard the last of Crash and her crew.”

The former Jedi turned monster hunter is facing new challenges behind the Nihil Stormwall. She’s never been busier, battling dangers and earning credits galore. If only she hadn’t agreed to take an apprentice. A storm is brewing on the horizon that will see Ty crossing sabers with old enemies–and friends.

New York Times bestselling writer Cavan Scott (Star Wars: The High Republic), artist Rachael Stott (Star Wars: The High Republic—The Monster of Temple Peak), and letterer Comicraft (Conan, Wolverine) present Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures—Saber for Hire, which explores the age of the High Republic, the golden era of the Jedi Order set long before the Skywalker Saga. Fan-favorite character Ty Yorrick, the former Padawan turned freelance monster hunter, returns to the page for the third time with friends and foes from the past, all threatening the near-perfect life she has built away from the Jedi.

“We’re thrilled that Cavan and Rachael are reuniting to continue Ty Yorrick’s story, and what a story it is,” said Michael Siglain, Creative Director, Lucasfilm Publishing. “Saber for Hire is filled with adventure, horror, and heart. Ty has left the Jedi Order far behind and has fully embraced her role as a monster-hunting saber-for-hire—or has she? As we’ll see, Ty is key to the larger battle between the marauding Nihil and the monstrous Nameless—she just doesn’t know it yet.”

“I am really excited to be teaming up with Rachael Stott once again for more Ty Yorrick adventures.” Said Cavan Scott. “Saber For Hire takes place in The High Republic’s dramatic third phase when the anarchic Nihil have annexed a vast area of Republic space. Former Jedi-turned-monster hunter Ty and her apprentice Drewen are trapped behind enemy lines and having the time of their lives hunting beasts and making a small fortune. Well, Ty is having the time of her life. Drewen is feeling sidelined and wants more from their partnership. As Ty faces a nightmare from her past, Drewen steps out on his own. What could go wrong, right?”

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Crash Landing is set for release on March 20th, with Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire #1 following on April 10th.
