Henry Cavill shares Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare images ahead of Tuesday’s trailer

January 29, 2024 by Ricky Church

With his new film Argylle releasing this Friday, Henry Cavill has shared two behind the scenes images from his next upcoming film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Additionally, he also revealed the first trailer for the Guy Ritchie war film will be released tomorrow (Tuesday, January 30th).

The film is based on the 2014 non-fiction novel The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops written by Damien Lewis. Based on true events from World War II, it follows a clandestine special-ops group formed by then-Prime Minister Winston Churchill which also included James Bond creator and author Ian Fleming, who is said to have based much of his 007 adventures on his own experiences throughout the war. The groups success ultimately laid out the blueprint for British SAS special forces and the techniques black ops teams have used for decades.

Cavill shared the images of himself in costume from the film’s set on his Instagram, saying “Whilst my Argylle press tour nears completion, there is yet more excitement to come! Tomorrow will bring the trailer for Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare! Watch this space for more bearded and twirly wirly moustachioed antics.”

A post shared by Henry Cavill (@henrycavill)

Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare stars Henry Cavill (The Witcher), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Alan Ritchson (Reacher), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Cary Elwes (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Woman King), Babs Olusamokun (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), Henrique Zaga (Nancy Drew) and Til Schweiger (Inglorious Basterds).

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be released on April 19th, 2024.
