The Horror Avengers of Public Domain: Meet the Poohniverse

March 18, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Prolific horror collaborators Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have come together to form a new force in the film industry: Poohniverse.

If you aren’t aware, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey has dominated the conversation in the indie horror world, even sweeping at the Razzies this year. Now, there’s a soon-to-be spin-off of what started there, but the spin-off is unlike anything we’ve seen.

Variety reveals that our killer Pooh Bear will team up with murderous (public domain) versions of Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter, and Sleeping Beauty. The project is being described as “an IP-bludgeoning frenzy” and is due for release in 2025.

“As horror fans, we would love an Avengers that is all villains,” says actor-producer Scott Chambers of Jagged Edge Productions. “It’d have Freddy Krueger, Jason, Halloween, Scream, all of those. Obviously, that will never happen, but we can make it happen in our own little way, and that’s where this film has been born.”

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will be followed by titles like Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, and Pinocchio Unstrung.

As for the Poohniverse film itself, Rhys Jake-Waterfield (Blood and Honey and Blood and Honey 2) will direct the project. “We’ve got access to all these concepts, so it’s like a self-contained bubble, and we can do what we want with them,” says Jake-Waterfield. “So yeah, it’s really exciting.”

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is being released theatrically in the U.S. on March 26th. Watch the trailer here.
