Julia Roberts teams with Luca Guadagnino for After the Hunt

March 27, 2024 by EJ Moreno

The movie queen herself is heading to Amazon Studios as Julia Roberts boards a new thriller.

Roberts will join filmmaker Luca Guadagnino for After the Hunt. Screenwriter Nora Garrett is attached, and Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum will produce for Imagine Entertainment.

After the Hunt is described as an intense dramatic thriller about a college professor (Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil levels an accusation against one of her colleagues, and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light.

Amazon MGM Studios already has a relationship with Guadagnino through the upcoming Challengers with Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist [watch the trailer here], so the package sale worked well for the studio. As for landing a big name like Julia Roberts, Amazon is getting a bit of a reputation for some top-tier talent joining their work.

Roberts is best known for smash hits like Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and Ocean’s Eleven. In recent years, she’s appeared in 2022’s rom-com Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney and starred as Amanda Sandford in the 2023 Netflix film Leave the World Behind.
