After kicking down the streaming records for Prime Video, Jake Gyllenhaal is making a home at Amazon MGM Studios.
Gyllenhaal is fresh off Road House, which became Amazon’s biggest-ever movie launch with 50 million viewers. He has penned a three-year, first-look film deal with his company, Nine Stories.
“Jake is a one-of-a-kind talent whose passion and eye for filmmaking makes him a powerful storyteller both in front of the camera and behind the scenes,” said Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios. “Following the record-breaking success of Road House, we could not imagine a better time to officially cement our relationship. Jake has been an incredible partner, and we look forward to collaborating with him and the Nine Stories team to create needle-moving and compelling films from visionary filmmakers.”

Gyllenhaal founded Nine Stories in 2015 and has produced films that include Antoine Fuqua’s The Guilty, Paul Dano’s directorial debut Wildlife, and the Southern gothic The Devil All the Time.
The actor is best known for Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain, and Spider-Man: Far From Home; he is also an Oscar and Tony Award nominee.
