Doctor Who – The Sixth Doctor Adventures: The Trials of a Time Lord coming to Big Finish in August

April 24, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish Productions has announced that a new adventure for the Sixth Doctor, Doctor Who – The Sixth Doctor Adventures: The Trials of a Time Lord, is now available for pre-order and will release in August.  Colin Baker will be reprising his role for the Sixth Doctor in this new adventure and it’s quite a special year for him as 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of him in that role.

Joining Colin Baker for this epic full-cast audio drama will be Bonnie Langford once again playing companion Mel,Nicola Bryant as Peri and David Banks, who once again reprises his role as the Cyber Leader from the 80’s TV series.

In Doctor Who – The Sixth Doctor Adventures: The Trials of a Time Lord, the Doctor and Mel receive a distress signal from an old friend but when responding to it find themselves in Cyberia, a prison camp controlled by an old adversary – the Cyber Leader. The Cyber Leader has once again put a very devious scheme in action but as the Doctor investigates this, he finds that this is just the tip of a very big iceberg.  Has the Cyber Leader devised a scheme so cunning and elaborate that he will succeed or will the Doctor manage to thwart his plans?  We’ll have to wait until August to find out.

The Trials of a Time Lord will be one epic sized story of six parts written by three different writers: Rochana Patel, Katharine Armitage and Stewart Pringle.

Producer Jonathan S Powell said: “It felt important when planning this anniversary special to capture the spirit of the Classic Series, but also to make something bold and expansive that speaks to the world we live in today. So while Trials will treat you to a host of familiar themes and faces, it’s also full of surprises, catapulting our hero into the far future to face a uniquely 21st century crisis… The title is obviously a play on Colin’s final story just as The Quin Dilemma was a play on his first, but Trials takes its lead from Season 22 just as much as 23.”

Doctor Who – The Sixth Doctor Adventures: The Trials of a Time Lord is available to pre-order now for £18.99 for the digital download only or £22.99 for a collector’s edition CD box set + download. The Collector’s Edition box set is a limited run of 1500 copies.

Both this and The Quin Dilemma can be pre-ordered together in a bundle for £36 for the digital download or £44 for the collector’s edition CD box set + download
