Last fall saw a return to the world of Panem with an adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ prequel The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, featuring Tom Blyth as a young Coriolanus Snow years before he became Panem’s fearsome tyrant. Now Blyth has spoken about a potential return to The Hunger Games, saying stepping back into the role of Snow is a “no-brainer.”
In The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Coriolanus Snow was a student at the Capitol’s prestigious academy and became involved in the 10th annual Hunger Games, a far less grander event than the Games during Snow’s presidency. Tasked with reinvigorating the Hunger Games, Coriolanus became a mentor to District 12’s female Tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zelger), setting off a chain of events that would begin Coriolanus transformation into President Snow.
In an interview with ScreenRant Blyth was asked about more Hunger Games films that could further explore Snow’s journey, saying “It’d be a no-brainer. I feel like I was so fortunate to get to step into that world, and I really love everyone involved. Francis Lawrence, Nina Jacobson and Suzanne Collins. But it would be really cool to keep digging into that story, and I do think fans feel this too. I think they were very excited to reignite the world, and I think people feel like within that reigniting, there’s more to do. There are more stories to delve into.”
On Coriolanus’ personal development into the villain we know he becomes, Blyth added “I do think there’s more to Coriolanus’ story to delve into, whether he’s the lead character or whether he’s a periphery character and we look at someone else’s story. But I think it’d be fascinating to see his continued rise to power and what happens along the way.”
