Todd McFarlane gives update on new Spawn movie, hoping to direct it himself

February 18, 2016 by Gary Collinson

For the past few years, Todd McFarlane has been talking up the possibility of a new big screen outing for his comic book creation Spawn, and now he’s provided another update to Comic Book on his progress with the script, as well as revealing he hopes to direct the film himself.

“I’ve finished the script, and I’m in the process of editing. It’s 183 pages, and [producers] usually like 120. I still think it’s going to end up being about 140, because I’m putting in details for myself. I want to keep it small, keep it tight, so they’ll let me direct it! I need to get him back up on the big screen again to make him relevant in a big way, which we will do.”

McFarlane has previously suggested that Jamie Foxx was keen on starring in the lead role, although that was back in 2013, so things could certainly have changed in the meantime.

Are you looking forward to another Spawn movie? Do you think McFarlane will ever get it off the ground? Let us know in the comments below…
