Until Dawn movie kicks off casting with Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion

June 16, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Until Dawn was once a smash hit for PlayStation, it now looks to scare a new audience with its film adaptation. The upcoming David F. Sandberg film has found some of its key players.

Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion are all attached to the project, described “as an R-rated and terrifying love letter to the horror genre.”

Gary Dauberman wrote the latest version of Blair Butler’s previous script draft. It’s not yet confirmed if the movie will follow any of the video game’s key points.

“At PlayStation Productions, we are always looking to find creative and authentic ways to adapt our beloved games that our fans will enjoy,” said Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, Head of Product for PlayStation Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment. “Alongside Screen Gems, we’ve assembled a fantastic cast of new characters that builds upon our already stellar filmmaking team and their vision for the adaptation. We’re excited to reveal more about the movie soon.”

Developed by Supermassive Games, the game allows players to assume control of eight young adults who have to survive on Blackwood Mountain when their lives are threatened by a mysterious stranger. The game uses a butterfly effect system in which players must make choices that will change the story’s outcome.

There’s no set release date for the film as yet.
