Wesley Snipes throws shade at Marvel Studios’ rocky Blade production

June 17, 2024 by EJ Moreno

“Some mother fuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill.”

If there’s one thing Wesley Snipes will do, it would be to share his unfiltered opinion.

From throwing shade at Ryan Reynolds on the set of Blade Trinity to giving his views on the upcoming Blade reboot, Snipes holds nothing back, and his recent social media post is a perfect example.

The actor took to his social media account this weekend to comment on another roadblock for Marvel Studios’ Blade. With the news that director Yann Demange has exited the project, Snipes let his feelings be known.

“Blade, lordylordylordy folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough,” Snipes wrote via social media. “Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they?”

Many have pointed the fingers of jealousy at Snipes, hinting that they think he wants the role that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has, but it doesn’t seem to be that.

Snipes has been reasonably open to Ali taking over the role, saying in 2019 that the actor is “a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together.”

While the shade may seem directed at the production as a whole, Snipes seems to have more issues with the creative team taking so long to work things out. There have been two directors attached, multiple writers, and an actor who is growing tired of the drama; Snipes is seeing history repeat itself after his rough time filming his third Blade film, so the shade comes from a place of annoyance and remembrance.

Blade is currently scheduled for release on November 7th, 2025.
