Matt Damon and Ben Affleck team once more for Joe Carnahan’s RIP

June 19, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are set to work together once again in Narc-director Joe Carnahan’s crime-thriller RIP.

Per Deadline’s report the duo will produce the film under their Artists Equity banner, the same creative venture behind Affleck and Damon’s 2023 collaboration Air, which saw the Academy Award winning actors receive critical and commercial success for their tale of sports marketing executives chasing the Nike Air Jordan deal.

Plot details are being kept under wraps for RIP, but it is being described as a crime thriller, which means that they have the right man in Joe Carnahan, who made his name with the brilliant Narc (2002), and has since directed Smokin’Aces (2006), blockbuster misfire The A-Team (2010), and Liam Neeson punching wolves classic The Grey (2011). Carnahan’s last film was Gerard Butler actioner Copshop (2021).

Affleck has just wrapped production on the sequel to his 2016 sleeper-hit The Accountant, while next up for Damon is Apple TV+ crime-comedy The Instigators, which debuts this August and sees him starring alongside Casey Affleck.

Shooting is set to get underway this fall, with streaming services and theatrical distributors poised to bid for the project. Let us know what you think of this news by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
