Jared Padalecki may join The Boys’ final season for Supernatural reunion

June 22, 2024 by Ricky Church

The fifth and final season of Amazon Prime’s The Boys may feature a Supernatural reunion as Jared Padalecki has teased an appearance in the hit superhero series.

The Boys is created by Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural which he served as showrunner for the first five seasons. Padalecki and Jensen Ackles starred as Sam and Dean Winchester respectively and since the series ended its massive 15 season run, both actors have gone on to other projects but still hold Supernatural in their hearts. Ackles even joined The Boys as Soldier Boy in the third season.

Kripke recently voiced his desire to get Padalecki in The Boys for its final season and when Deadline asked the former Supernatural actor if he would be willing to make an appearance he quickly said “The answer is yes.”

It’s not just a remote possibility either, but something in very active development as Padalecki revealed. “We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today. I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.”

“I mean, he created Supernatural. He created Sam Winchester. He created Ruby [actress Genevieve Padalecki in Supernatural‘s fourth season], who I ended up marrying and started a family with,” he continued. “I adore him. I adore his humor. I adore him as a person, his storytelling. So I can’t wait. I don’t think [Season 5] films until next year, but I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?'”

Since Supernatural‘s conclusion, Padalecki has starred in the rebooted Walker series for The CW, which was abruptly cancelled last month and will end its four season run next week, while Ackles has starred in The Boys, voiced Batman in DC’s Tomorrowverse animated films and recently guest starred in Tracker opposite Justin Hartley as his brother. He also briefly reprised his role as Dean Winchester in the short-lived Supernatural prequel/spin-off The Winchesters.
