George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s Wolfs is already greenlit for a sequel

August 8, 2024 by Ricky Church

Despite Jon Watts’ crime caper Wolfs starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt being several weeks away from release, Deadline has reported Apple Original Films has already gone ahead and given the greenlight for a sequel to be developed.

Watts’ film, which Clooney previously described as “an R-rated Ocean’s 11“, sees Clooney as a professional fixer who covers up crimes when his most recent job is complicated when a second fixer, played by Pitt, shows up at the same crime scene. They are both reluctantly forced to work together before their time runs out. Watts will write, direct and produce the Wolfs sequel which will again star Clooney and Pitt in the leads.

Meanwhile, Apple has also changed its plans for Wolfs‘ theatrical release. It was previously going to have a wide release before premiering on Apple TV+, but now it will have a limited release in theatres for one week beginning September 20th before arriving on the streaming service on September 27th.

Wolfs is the kind of big event movie that makes Apple TV+ such an exceptional home for the best in entertainment,” Apple Original Films head of features Matt Dentler said. “With George and Brad’s remarkable and engaging chemistry under Jon Watts’ extraordinary direction, ‘Wolfs’ blends all the great elements of comedy, action, and drama into a hugely entertaining movie that will leave audiences ready for what’s next. Releasing the movie to theaters before making it widely available to Apple TV+ customers brings the best of both worlds to audiences, and we’re excited to see fans embrace the movie as we start working with Jon on the sequel.”

Watts is known for directing Marvel’s Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland. Pitt is starring in another film for Apple, F1 from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two “lone wolves” are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected.

Wolfs features George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind and Zlatko Burić.
