Halloween: The Game and retro-style Halloween and Ash vs. Evil Dead platformers announced by Boss Team Games

August 15, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Halloween is not only coming to the small screen with its first television adaptation, but you’ll be able to relive the iconic slasher franchise with two new video games. It’s been announced that Boss Team Games (Evil Dead: The Game) is currently working on two titles based on the Halloween series. Even better, they’ve got John Carpenter involved, given his status as the franchise’s creator and beloved gamer.

Along with a 16-bit retro style platformer which is being released alongside Ash vs. Evil Dead as the first two titles in Boss Team Games and WayForward’s new RetroRealms series, the publisher is also working on a new title in Unreal Engine 5, which will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time.”

It was noted that the filmmaker will be “intimately involved” with the developers working on the Unreal Engine game. “As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game,” said Carpenter in a press release.

“Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror, and getting to work with these legendary properties is a dream come true,” Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris said. “It has been an amazing experience collaborating with WayForward and our licensors to create not one, but two, fast-paced 90’s arcade style games while remaining true to the original Halloween film and ‘Ash vs Evil Dead‘ series. The trailer dropping today gives fans a taste of the gore-filled gameplay and fast-paced action, and we can’t wait to show more!”

Here’s the trailer for RetroRealms: Halloween and RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead…

You can purchase the RetroRealms titles individually for $24.99 or in a Double Feature bundle for $49.99. Both titles will be released this October 18th, available on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox.
