J.J. Abrams and Dwayne Johnson team for mystery project

October 19, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Do you smell what Dwayne Johnson and J.J. Abrams are cooking up?

The director behind The Force Awakens and the Star Trek reboot is teaming up with one of Hollywood’s most famous men, but we know little about this. A potential production start date hasn’t been revealed yet.

Dwayne Johnson took to social media, sharing a photo with him, Abrams, and other filmmakers.

Johnson writes, “Years in the making — we finally broke bread, we drank, we laughed, we talked life stuff, love stuff, dude stuff, and took our time chopping up our passion for movies and storytelling. Then we raised our glass and toasted to … Yup, this one is gonna be fun. JJ & DJ. From the mind of Zak Penn.”

Penn is best known for Ready Player One, Free Guy, and The Incredible Hulk. Penn was also the wo-story writer for Marvel’s The Avengers, along with Joss Whedon.

Next up for Johnson is Red One, a holiday film set for release this November. As for Abrams, the filmmaker is currently developing a film that will star Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega and have major “Last Starfighter” vibes.

Stay tuned to whatever Johnson and Abrams are cooking up.
