Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow adds 3 Body Problem’s Eve Ridley

November 2, 2024 by Ricky Church

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has found its co-lead alongside Milly Alcock in the upcoming DC film. Per Deadline, Eve Ridley (3 Body Problem) will star as Ruthye Mary Knolle, a young woman from a distant planet who becomes Supergirl’s ally and friend in her quest to bring a dangerous criminal to justice.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the 2022 comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The story followed Supergirl and Ruthye as the latter asked Supergirl for help in tracking down a criminal known as Krem of the Yellow Hill after he murdered Ruthye’s father. Their quest took them across the galaxy as Krem proved to be a particularly slippery and cunning adversary who lacked any remorse for his victims.

Ridley will star alongside Alcock and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard), the latter of whom will play the villainous Krem. Ridley is most known for her role in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem as well as the BBC series Casualty.

House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl earlier this year and though she will lead the Supergirl feature film for James Gunn’s new DC film universe, set to begin this December with the HBO Max animated series Creature Commandos, it is said Alcock will make her debut as the Girl of Steel in another DC film, likely to be Gunn’s Superman opposite David Corenswet as her cousin Superman. We’ll just have to wait and see if this proves to be the case.

Production on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is scheduled to begin January 2025 with Cruella‘s Craig Gillespie directing for a release date of June 26th, 2026.
