Forget Celebrations as This War of Mine marks 10th anniversary with new DLC

November 16, 2024 by Andrew Newton

The majority of us can agree that war is a ridiculous waste of life and resources and 11 bit studios’ This War of Mine has been showing the struggle of survival in a war zone from a civilian’s point of view for 10 years now.  Unfortunately, war still goes on in the world so This War of Mine brings a new DLC where you can Forget Celebrations and return to Pogoren.

Moving away from the game industry’s Hollywood-style portrayal of war, This War of Mine has provided a stark view of the realities of war, where the struggle of survival erodes away the moral decisions that we have the luxury of making in the peace we perhaps sometimes take for granted.  Such has been the game’s success in this area that it has earned a place in prestigious exhibitions such as those at the Imperial War Museum in London. It is also considered as ‘supplementary material’ by Poland’s Ministry of Education, with a free educational version available on the government’s website.

This War of Mine has spent 10 whole years showing people the real struggles for civilians and supporting a wide range of charities, including War Child and the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Forget Celebrations DLC will continue to support a range of charities.

In the Forget Celebrations DLC, players will return to Pogoren to follow Katia, a seasoned war correspondent who has been forced into a fight for survival after her house in caught in a missile strike.  It will be up to players to help Katia to not only survive the harsh realities of war, but to also help her recover her gathered research material.

Forget Celebrations DLC will be arriving soon for This War of Mine, with all studio proceeds being donated to support War Child, Amnesty International, Liberty Ukraine Foundation and Indie Games Poland.
