Kevin Williamson announces start of production on Scream 7

January 8, 2025 by Ricky Church

Scream 7 has begun production with director Kevin Williamson making the announcement over Instagram, giving us the first look at the film’s logo.

Williamson is the creator of the Scream franchise after writing the original, its first sequel and Scream 4. He worked with iconic horror director Wes Craven on the films and thanked him in his Instagram statement.

“What an extraordinary day I had working with an amazing and talented cast and crew,” Williamson said. “They brought their “A” game and had my back every step of the way. I’m so very grateful for this opportunity and to Wes Craven who was on my mind through it all. The profound impact he has had on my life and career is endless. What a day! I can’t wait for tomorrow!”

Scream 7 sees Neve Campbell return to the franchise after she neglected to star in Scream VI. She’ll be joined by her fellow Scream co-star Courteney Cox as well as Mason Gooding, who starred in Scream and Scream VI as Chad Meeks-Martin, the nephew of Randy Meeks, who was a part of the new generation of potential Ghostface victims.

Screan 7 will also feature Isabel May, who is said to be playing Sidney Prescott’s daughter, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, McKenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Anna Camp. Patrick Dempsey, who was last seen in Scream 3, is also reported to be back for the seventh installment, though he has not been officially confirmed yet.

Scream 7 will be released in theaters worldwide via Paramount Pictures on February 27, 2026.
