Masters of the Universe casts Morena Baccarin and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as The Sorceress and Fisto

February 10, 2025 by Ricky Church

The upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action film has filled out more of its cast. According to Deadline, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) as The Sorceress and Fisto.

Baccarin will play The Sorceress, a powerful figure who guards Castle Grayskull, keep its secrets and wisdom safe, but can only use her abilities while inside the castle. When outside Grayskull, she can transform into Zoar, a falcon who communicates telepathically with trusted friends.

In some of the Masters of the Universe media, The Sorceress is also Teela’s mother, who will be played in the film by Camila Mendes and serves as Prince Adam’s bodyguard and an ally to He-Man.

Jóhannesson will play Fisto, a muscular henchmen for the evil Skeletor who he names ruler of the forest. The character is known for having a large, mailed fist for a hand and for training deadly animals including his pet Arachna.

Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings), from a script written by Chris Butler (Paranorman), Masters of the Universe will finally bring the world of the cherished Mattel action figure back to the big screen.

Running for two seasons between 1983-1985, and consisting of 130 episodes, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe focused on the age-old good vs. evil battle between He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, and Skeletor, a cranky cranium head who wanted to get his bony hands on the mysterious Castle Grayskull. A big-screen version starring Dolph Lundgren was released in 1987, but it bombed disastrously at the box-office, before developing something of a cult following over the years.

Masters of the Universe will star Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto.
