A Quiet Place: Day One director to helm Death Stranding movie

April 10, 2025 by Gary Collinson

It looks like A24 and Kojima Productions have found a filmmaker to shepherd their feature film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game Death Stranding, with Deadline revealing that Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One) is in talks to write and direct.

Released for the PlayStation 4 in 2019 and featuring a cast that included Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Margaret Qualley, Death Stranding takes place in a post-cataclysmic United States inhabited by otherworldly creatures known as ‘Beached Things’. The game follows Sam Porter Bridges, who finds himself tasked with reuniting a divided America and re-establishing connections between the last remnants of humanity. A sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is set for release on PlayStation 5 in June.

Should a deal be reached, Death Stranding will reunite A24 with Sarnoski, who is currently in post production on the studio’s The Death of Robin Hood, a reimagining on the Robin Hood legend starring Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.
