Japanese video game publisher TATSUJIN has announced they will be releasing the ultimate collection of the iconic shoot ’em up titles from legendary arcade developer TOAPLAN on 14th August. Released over two volumes, the Toaplan Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up Collection Vol 1 & 2 will launch digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a physical edition arriving on the PS5. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s TOAPLAN created some absolutely brilliant shoot ’em ups for the arcades, with many proving so popular that they ended up having international releases on systems of the time. This August these games (some of which with their international versions) will be available for retro game fans and new gamers alike to enjoy.
These classic arcade hits will include all the luxury features that modern games can enjoy, thanks to Bitwave Games. These modern luxuries include Achievements and Trophies, a Rewind feature to correct a tragic mistake, Save/Load options, Stat Tracking, Dip Switches to recreate customisable arcade settings, online leaderboards and Assist features such as smaller hitboxes and increased player durability
