Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks gets ready for full launch with new trailer

May 16, 2025 by Andrew Newton

PLAION and Wired Productions have announced that Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks will fully launch on Steam during this year’s May 22nd Warhammer Skulls festival. This release also sees publishing responsibilities move from PLAION to Wired Productions, who previously worked with developer Caged Element in 2018’s GRIP: Combat Racing.

The change in publisher also brings about some major changes with the game, most notably that the free-to-play option is gone. No longer will players power up the game only to find half the content behind a paywall, instead the game will be available at a low price with a large majority of content included. There will be a series of new DLC packs at launch, however. Because of this change, Early Access players will receive the full 1.0 update completely free as a thank you for their support during the Early Access phase.

Other advantages of the game no longer being free-to-play is that there can be private games, a new Free-Roam mode to explore any map and the removal of the 3rd party PROS account that used to be mandatory.

Version 1.0 will also bring the end to in-game microtransactions.  Players who earned or purchased the Teef in-game currency during the early access phase will still be able to spend it for 12 months but the in-game store will no longer be accessible to general players.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks will be available on 22nd May at a special discounted price of £12.79/ €15.99/ $15.99.
