Roguelite survival horror Toxicant receiving major update

May 21, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Cosmocat Games will be releasing a major free update for their roguelite survival horror, Toxicant, on 26th May.  The Rampage! Update introduces a brand new game mode for players to test their skills, plus there’s a new weapon that will help escape sticky situations.  Watch the new trailer below to see what’s coming later this month.

With the new update players will be able to make use of a brand new shotgun. This weapon can be found somewhere within the main game and will prove to be incredibly useful.  The shotgun ammo will be extremely limited, meaning that players will have to continue to play the game as designed to a degree, however it will certainly get you out of a tight spot if the need arises.

Players will also be able to attempt the exciting new Rampage! mode. This mode will need to be unlocked by first finding the shotgun in the main game mode but once discovered this new mode will be there to provide a real challenge. With this new mode, the level generation logic has been altered to allow for a more action-oriented experience, much like a traditional zombie shooter. Players will spawn with a fully loaded shotgun, more ammo spawns (although it will still be a tad scarce), more enemies and fewer tunnels to navigate.

Look out for this new update arriving for Toxicant on 26th May. For those interested in Cosmocat’s survival horror, the 26th May will also bring a 60% discount for the game on Steam.
