Pokémon Legends: Z-A sets October release date

May 29, 2025 by Andrew Newton

The Pokémon Company International has announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch on 16th October and will be available for pre-order from the Nintendo eShop on 5th June.  Gamers who purchase either the physical or digital editions will have the opportunity to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack from the Nintendo eShop.

Other details announced for Pokémon Legends: Z-A include the unveiling of the cover art (see above), featuring the game’s main characters and their partner Pokémon battling at night in Lumiose City.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A breaks tradition in the Pokémon video game series by creating an RPG story that takes place wholly in a single city.  Trainers will be able to experience a real-time battle system unlike anything seen before in the series and enjoy a brand-new adventure in Lumiose City.

Ahead of the game’s launch, fans can pick up Mega Evolution–themed products from the Pokémon Center online store. Trainers and fans alike can purchase a variety of clothing, accessories, pin badges, plushies and more. There are giant pins featuring Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y, a range of hoodies and t-shirts featuring Mega Venusaur, Mega Gengar, Mega Lucario and more, and 9.5 inch plush Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

Beginning in June, those who pre-order Pokémon Legends: Z-A at Pokémon Center in the U.K., Canada or the U.S., will be able to receive a random Pokémon Sitting Cuties plush featuring Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile as a gift with purchase. This is a limited offer while stocks last, however, so don’t dally if you really want one of these plush toys.

Look out for Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arriving for pre-order on 5th June from the Nintendo eShop.
