Last month came the somewhat surprising news that David Fincher is teaming with Quentin Tarantino to direct a follow-up to the latter’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood entitled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, and now it seems that casting is starting to heat up on the project.
According to Deadline, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen) is set to join the previously announced Elizabeth Debicki (MaXXXine) and Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-0) as newcomers to the world of Tarantino’s Hollywood. Brad Pitt is reprising his role as Cliff Booth, while his Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio is also believed to be in talks for a Rick Dalton return.
Plot details for the film are a closely guarded secret, but the film will take place after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with Pitt’s Cliff Booth now working as a Hollywood fixer. Mateen is reportedly set to portray a star football player-turned-actor, in the vein of Jim Brown (The Dirty Dozen).
