Hulk! New Suit! Punisher! Mister Negative!? Everything We Know About Spider-Man: Brand New Day

August 2, 2025 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno on what we know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day…

Spider-Man Day celebrated the friendly neighborhood superhero and all his web-slinging ways with a new tease for the upcoming fourth film in the Sony/MCU era. With a fresh look at our new suit and some on-set leaks teasing a major villain, it’s time to look ahead at the July 2026 film and see what we will be getting into with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The Hulk!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day now has the duty of putting The Hulk in a Marvel Studios project since he can’t have his own film. THR has confirmed Mark Ruffalo is now joining the film. All shade aside, this does make for an interesting pairing, as we’ve rarely seen Peter Parker and Bruce Banner together in any form of media outside of the comics. Will we see more Science Bros in the MCU?

It’s interesting to see the cast form around this film, given its story’s mysterious nature. Adding The Hulk into the mix promises chaos.

New Suit

Do we keep the same suit at the end of No Way Home, or does the newly released teaser hint at another new look for the hero? That’s what fans are wondering since the Brand New Day filming announcement dropped with a look at what our Spidey will be rocking this go-around. By giving fans an actual teaser, it’s hard to say what the look will be like until promo shots (or set photos) begin to roll in. For some, the suit is the hardest thing to get right, so the anticipation for this new era’s look is beginning to really grow.

UPDATE: Here’s a promo featuring Tom Holland wearing the new suit, sans mask…

Brand New Timeline

We will soon find out what Tom Holland’s Spider-Man universe looks like after the significant changes from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it’s shaping up to be a must-see. Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned are returning, but last we saw them, they had no idea who Peter Parker was. How they play into this story will be interesting, especially with Sadie Sink’s mysterious new character entering the mix.

We all just hope for a fresh start for the character, so he can soon begin a more traditional storyline arc for the diehard fans.

A More Grounded Story

Speaking of a “traditional story,” it’s been teased that Brand New Day will leave behind the globe-trotting, space adventures, and multiverse mishaps we’ve seen and take us to the streets. Kevin Feige confirmed this by saying that Spider-Man will be “…dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.” Is this the right move for this new film?

Some have opposed this and called it a regression, while others are delighted with something easier to digest.

The Punisher

No one has been opposed to Frank Castle entering the fold, though. Yes, The Punisher will be joining this new Spider-Man story, adding the film’s more New York City streets-focused story. With the chaos left in the wake of Wilson Fisk’s rise, it would make sense that Peter would want to make things right for those close to home. How will Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland work together? Only time will tell.

And if we have The Punisher, it’s safe to assume that maybe Daredevil isn’t too far behind. Give us a bit of Omega Effect!

Scorpion

What’s a Spider-Man movie without multiple foes? It seems like we’ll see an expansion of Scorpion in the MCU with Michael Mando (Better Call Saul) returning for the new film. First introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Mando will hopefully get more screen time and don his iconic comic book suit. Will he be a main baddie? Unlikely, but he’ll be great to see in a big-screen fight.

The best way he’d fit into the story is as a top-tier henchman, possibly for the film’s biggest bad.

Mister Negative

Even if Marvel wants to take Spider-Man to a more street-level story, that doesn’t mean the villain has to be boring. In fact, the rumored bad guy for Brand New Day could be one of the most visually striking of all time. Though not confirmed, it’s been long rumored, and a recent set photo hints that Mister Negative and the Inner Demons are coming. Peter Parker might soon meet the sinister Martin Li.

Spider-Man has faced crimelords before, but with the introduction of the bioweapon Devil’s Breath, the stakes are raised.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and is set for release on July 31st 2026.
