Anne Faris and Regina Hall will return for Scary Movie 6

August 16, 2025 by Ricky Church

Fans of the Scary Movie franchise have more reason to rejoice for the upcoming sixth installment. Not only is Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans returning to the franchise they started 25 years ago, but original stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall are officially on board for more screams and slapstick satire of the horror genre in Scary Movie 6.

Faris and Hall were among the main cast for the original Scary Movie as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks respectively. Spoofing Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cindy and Brenda were among a group of high school students involved in a fatal hit-and-run they covered up only to be targeted by a masked killer one year later.

Faris and Hall would go on to star in the following three Scary Movie sequels with the fifth film being the only one they were not in. This is also despite the fact Hall’s Brenda died in two of the films only to miraculously return from the dead as if she never died at all – a fact Faris and Hall were quick to poke fun at in their statement on joining Scary Movie 6.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” the pair said. Marlon Wayans confirmed their casting on Instagram by a sharing a behind the scenes photo of Faris and Hall on the set of Scary Movie with ‘SM6’ as the caption.

Scary Movie 6 is scheduled for a summer 2026 release and will mark the first time the Wayans Brothers have reunited in 18 years for a project. After creating Scary Movie with the three all writing the first two films, as well as Marlon and Shawn starring in them and Keenan directing, the brothers were subsequently removed from the creative process of the following films by Harvey Weinstein and Miramax with Marlon Wayans claiming Weinstein stole their ideas for Scary Movie 3.

The Scary Movie franchise has spoofed several popular and beloved horror films from Scream, The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, The Exorcist, Saw and many more. With the new wave of the genre having seen films like Get Out, Sinners and the recent Weapons as well as revivals of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, there is plenty of material for the Wayans Brothers to parody in Scary Movie 6.

Scary Movie 6 will be released on June 12, 2026.
