Trailer for Kristen Stewart-directed The Chronology of Water starring Imogen Poots

September 13, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

A trailer has arrived online for The Chronology of Water, the biographical drama which marks the feature directorial debut for Kristen Stewart.

Based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir of the same name, the film tells the story of Yuknavitch (Imogen Poots) as she struggles to find her way in life after fleeing her abusive home and losing her swimming scholarship to addiction, until she finds her refuge in literature at the University of Oregon.

The cast includes Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Jim Belushi, Charles Carrick, Tom Sturridge, Susanna Flood, Esme Creed Miles, Kim Gordon, and Michael Epp.

Growing up in an environment ravaged by violence and alcohol, Lidia, a young woman, struggles to find her way. She manages to escape her family and enters university, where she finds refuge in literature. Little by little, words offer her an unexpected freedom…
